LGAA is pleased to invite members, municipal government employees, and sponsors to participate in our 2023 Golf Tournament at the beautiful Silvertip Resort in the mountains of Canmore, Alberta.

This is a new feature that we have added on as a pre-conference activity the day before our 2023 Conference & Trade Show.

Who can register?

This is our first year hosting a tournament so we have started small. Due to a limited number of player spots, registration is limited as follows:

Before May 12, 2023, registration is limited to:

employees of municipal governments (no requirement to be registered for the 2023 Conference), and
employees of the Government of Alberta who are registered for the 2023 Conference & Trade Show.

If you are an LGAA member, please register by clicking 'Register' in the left menu. If you are not a member and meet the criteria above, please email Darren at info@lgaa.ab.ca to register for the tournament.

After May 12, 2023

If spots remain open, tournament sponsors will receive first option to register to play in the golf tournament. Additional openings will then be made available to sponsors of the 2023 Conference & Trade Show and anyone else.

Cost

$125.00 + GST Members

$175.00 + GST Non-Members

Cost includes:

18-hole round of golf
Power cart (shared)
Access to the driving range and putting facilities
Sponsored free meal on hole 10
Free food after the round
Chance to win prizes, and
Numerous opportunities to network with other administrators and vendors

Format

Shot-gun tee-off at 9:30 a.m. using a scramble format (often referred to as "best ball") where players tee off and then hit from the best shot of their team and repeat this process until each hole is complete.

Team Selection

Players will have the option to request to play with a colleague they know or be matched up in teams where they can meet new people.

Not a regular golfer?

That's okay! Whether you shoot 70 or 200, we invite all levels of golfers to participate. The scramble format (aka ‘best ball’) lets you hit from your teammates’ best position each time. This is great for new players as it lessens your discomfort and let’s you focus on what matters – networking with your teammates and sponsored vendors at each hole. Plus, there is no incentive for your team to shoot the lowest score because prizes will be awarded based on fun merits and random draws.

Timing with other LGAA pre-conference events

LGAA is offering a number of other pre-conference activities on the same day. For planning purposes, the golf tournament will be complete by 2:00 p.m. but the post-tournament prize awards and meals may run until after 3:00 p.m. If you plan to participate in the afternoon rafting tour or mobile scavenger hunt, it is possible that you may have to leave the post-tournament ceremony early to be on time for those other afternoon events.
